What is it about these colorful, little sugar candy toppings that makes them a long-cherished decoration? We’ve seen people gazing through the glass bakery case, pointing at the multicolored sprinkled cookies with a smiles on their faces. Even if you’re smiling on the inside, that still counts!
Fun fact #1: Nonpareils are the little round, rainbow candy decorations and are best for toppings, as their color tends to rub off in dough. Ironically, every bakery we’ve ever been to have rainbow sprinkled cookies. Whether it’s a sugar cookie, or a chocolate cookie with sprinkles, they always have them. We know they speak to the child inside all of us, as they appeal to all ages alike. You’ll also find cupcakes covered in them too.
Fun fact #2: Jimmies are the longer, candy rods in either all chocolate or rainbow colored. These are best for baking as they won’t melt. Not only can you find Jimmies at bakeries, but at ice cream parlors, frozen yougart stores and donut shops.
Fun fact #3: All sorts of sprinkles are called, hundreds and thousands, in England!
It’s endearing to see how something so small can add so much happiness.
