kind.

A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” -Amelia Earhart

We’re huge advocates of human kindness and understand how a small act of paying it forward can make someone’s day.

A study conducted by Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, psychology professor at University of California, Riverside, students were assigned to do five random acts of kindness per week for a period of six weeks. At the end of the study, the students’ levels of happiness had increased by 41.66 percent. Being kind had a profoundly positive effect on happiness.

This goes to show how vital being kind is, for yourself and others. We’re making a mission to spread kindness and joy everywhere we go! Join us if you like. We’d LOVE to hear your stories of either someone’s kindness towards you or vice versa!

carpool.

As far back as we can remember, we’ve always loved to carpool with friends and family. Whenever there’s a party or event to attend, we’re all for combining everyone into one or two cars and making our way there together. It’s a great way to spend quality time with those you love while listening to your favorite tunes and saving on gas. Another plus is you arrive at the same time. Talk about efficiency! It’s just another way we like to multipurpose and help the environment and traffic!

What’s your favorite way to conserve energy, time or resources?

With the weather warming up, hydration is the name of the game. It’s key! Everyone is talking about being properly hydrated these days. Even in the skin care realm, many products now offer plumping, hydrating benefits.

When we’re not properly hydrated, we are more susceptible to fatigue, headaches, irritability, feeling hungry and, of course, the big one, dehydration. As we sweat, we need to replenish our fluids, so our bodies can function properly. One of our favorite ways to rehydrate is with coconut water. It’s readily available in most grocery and health food stores. In addition, filtered water with a splash of unsweetened cranberry juice with a twist of lemon or lime tastes great and is easy to sip throughout the day. Before you know it, you’ve consumed your daily water intake!

We’re always working on improving our daily water consumption by making it interesting with different types of ice, splashes of natural juices and fresh and frozen fruit. It comes down to keeping it interesting and flavorful.

Cheers!

“stuffed.”

They say breakfast is essential to starting your day off right, as it should be the biggest meal of the day. Lunch is lighter, but also needs to fill you up with healthy protein and fats. About the time you start getting a little hungry, it’s nice to have something quick, healthy and delicious you can whip up in minutes. We found these smart and easy lunch/ brunch meals that accomplish just that. They can also be a quick snack in between meals too, if you’re still wanting something, but don’t want to feel bloated.

These veggie protein “bowls” can be as creative as you like with any type of vegetable you can fill with hummus, quinoa, chicken salad, tuna, shrimp, you name it! The great part is you can be vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or a meat eater and these still work!

Eating lighter with more nutritionally dense food has helped so many aspects in our world. In addition, it alleviates the cravings for the things we try to stay away from.

Have fun with your own combinations of this bowl-style eating. The possibilities are endless!

crochet.

The best beach cover-ups we’ve come across this season accomplish many things at once, which we LOVE! They’re lightweight, stylish, and versatile—looking just as good over your bathing suit by the pool as they do during a hotel lunch! Whether you’re headed on a weeklong vacation to Hawaii or island-hopping around Greece this summer, be sure to pack a few swimsuit cover-ups you can throw on after a dip in the water.

One of our favorite looks is crochet. It’s the perfect cover-up style—breathable, wrinkle-resistant, and just transparent enough to show off a little bit of your swimsuit. Our top picks are those featured here! If you like a little more coverage but still want to look on trend, go for a longer length, in your favorite shade with fun details. Just remember the sunscreen!

spahhh.

When was the last time you treated yourself to a spa day? If you have think about it, there’s a good chance it might be too long. There are so many ways to do a spa day, one being at home! For those who like the privacy and comfort of being seconds away from your own bathtub, you can turn your bathroom into a spa retreat with essential oils, a soft bath robe, candles and relaxing music! For those that prefer an actual spa, there are countless incredible spas available, some of which are offered in hotels that include use of the pool, jacuzzi and facilities on site.

With all the ways to pamper ourselves, we think bubble baths and massages are some of the most relaxing. Taking care of ourselves is so important, it’s actually essential. Excellent health is vital to living a vibrant life. Another reason is when you’re healthy, you can be there for your loved ones when they need you. Treating yourself with love and care is a gift that keeps on giving.

carryall.

We’ve always LOVED purses. Ever since we were gifted our very first one at the young age of four, we’ve been enamored by the functionality of what a “purse” is. She was a family friend, an adorable elderly woman who was as kind as could be. She gave us a heart shaped, light denim colored purse, with a red patent leather strawberry-shaped closure, that snapped off as an accessory, and could be used with or without. At that time, it marked a period where we realized the importance of keeping your things together while you weren’t home. Whether it be money for an ice-cream at school, chap-stick, a pencil or a bobbie pin or two, it did the trick! Not only did it hold all these “important” items, it was a fashion statement AND conversation starter! Talk about multi-purpose!

These purses weren’t as big of a commitment as a backpack or lunch pail. It was different, this was better. Thankfully, we learned that early on. Ever since then, LOVE has grown into a passion, as almost anyone who knows us knows.

We could go on and on about these carryalls, so we will! We’ll be continuing on additional topics under our newest category, devoted specifically to purses called, Purse L♡ve. We aim to find pieces that compliment our wardrobe and occasionally, some that don’t! Either way, they must be fabulous. We’ll explore styles, trends, storage, organizing, fabrics, functionality and to zip or not to zip, just to name a few.

Until then, happy Sunday!

Those early morning hours when all is quiet, still and calm are what fuels the rest of our day. The peace that carries over from that time, that “golden hour,” is like no other. It’s gentle, restorative and essential. Whether you enjoy meditation, yoga, or just focusing on your breathing to get centered, those early waking hours are a glorious time to do just that.

Enjoy your Sunday, we hope it’s fabulous.

farrell’s.

As a child, it’s where you wanted to be. If your birthday was right around the corner, Farrell’s was your one-stop shop destination for fun, food and festivities! If you wanted the best banana split in town, Farrell’s was the place. The concept was simple. An old-fashioned themed ice cream parlor that offered family-friendly environment AND something called, The Kitchen Sink, that included every flavor of ice cream, every topping with chopped nuts, whipped cream and maraschino cherries! Although we never tried it, we were still thrilled with our hot fudge sundae with extra whipped cream.

If one of your parents happened to hand you a few dollars to shop in the candy store, near the register, you’d be in luck. They had every type of taffy, multi-colored candy dots, lollipops and barrels of old fashioned style sweets. We usually opted for the strawberry taffy wrapped in wax paper, sweet and a bit tart. So good!

The incredibly happy memories created there will last a lifetime. Knowing the value of creating special memories is a game changer and making each celebration count truly has been and will always be a top priority on our list.

Was there a special place you would celebrate your birthdays?
